Purpose of the role

We’re seeking a friendly and professional Visitor Services Host to join our team. You’ll deliver exceptional customer service across Retail, Admissions, and Hullabazoo, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors. As a key point of contact, you’ll play an essential role in welcoming guests and maintaining high service standards throughout their visit.

If you’re passionate about customer service, we’d love to hear from you!

A minimum of 6 hours per month, with the potential for additional hours during peak periods.

Interviews are proposed to be scheduled for the week commencing February 24th.

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure high standards of customer service across our Visitor Services functions.
  • To act as an ambassador for ZSL at all times and actively participate in on-the-job training, including mandatory courses.
  • To be a point of contact for all visitors on complaint resolution/enquiries, escalating where necessary to line management.
  • To ensure compliance with ZSL policy and procedure including GDPR and Health & Safety related matters.
  • Help to drive open communication across the Visitor Services department, including participation in daily team performance briefings.

About You

  • This role is predominantly front of house operations, which may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Flexible working hours, including evening, weekend and bank holidays are essential.
  • Excellent written and/or oral communication skills as we expect the post holder to be able to communicate effectively across the department and with the wider Zoo.

  • Previous experience working in a visitor or customer services setting is an advantage but not essential. We will require a 'hands on approach', particularly during peak trading conditions to support the wider team.
  • Someone who acts as an ambassador for ZSL's equality and diversity policies, ensuring compliance across the department, acting with professionalism.

We strongly encourage applications from all backgrounds and celebrate the value of having a team of employees with diverse skills, experiences, and heritage. We are committed to ensuring our teams can bring their authentic selves to work without fear of discrimination. ZSL has active equality networks for our staff with lived experience and those who provide active allyship in Race and Culture, Team Pride, Disability Network, and Menopause Network, complemented by our strategic EDI Steering Group.
