Purpose of the role

As the Transforming the Thames Project Coordinator, you’ll play an important role in supporting an ambitious partnership programme working to restore coastal habitats across the Greater Thames Estuary.

Working closely with the Senior Partnerships Manager, Senior Restoration Manager, wider ZSL teams and project partners, you’ll help keep the programme running smoothly day to day. You’ll coordinate meetings and working groups, record actions and minutes, manage project systems, coordinate partner contributions and support grant administration and reporting. You’ll need to be highly organised, proactive and adaptable, with the confidence to manage multiple priorities, work with a range of people and keep activities, deadlines and deliverables on track.

Transforming the Thames has a vision of a Thames Estuary that is Restored, Reconnected and Resilient, an Outstanding Coastal Wetland for Communities and Wildlife. Led by ZSL, the programme brings together industry, government, environmental organisations, local nature partnerships and landowners to protect, repair and restore habitats and reconnect the fragmented estuary for both people and wildlife.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract working 37.5 hours per week. The role operates on a hybrid basis, with the postholder expected to work from ZSL’s Regent’s Park office at least two days per week. As a representative of the project, the postholder will also be expected to attend meetings and events across the Seascape sites in Kent and Essex.

This role is expected to start in early January 2027. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 9th and 10th December 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Support the day-to-day running of Transforming the Thames, keeping activities, milestones and deadlines on track.
  • Project Management: Maintain project systems, calendars, workplans and records, ensuring information is organised and accessible.
  • Meetings & Events: Coordinate meetings, workshops and events, including scheduling, agendas, minutes and following up on actions.
  • Partnerships: Build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders, supporting communication and coordinating project information and data.
  • Reporting & Funding: Support grant and funder reporting by coordinating contributions, collating information and helping with funding proposals.
  • Project Activities & Communications: Support site visits, events, stakeholder engagement and communications, working with the wider team to share project updates and represent Transforming the Thames.

About You

  • Experience providing project coordination, administration or project support within a busy, multi-workstream environment.
  • Experience coordinating activities, actions and deadlines within a multi-partner programme or partnership.
  • Experience organising meetings, workshops or events, including logistics, papers, minutes and action tracking.
  • Experience collating information and contributing to reports, briefings, presentations or other written materials, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong IT and information management skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Drive, online systems and digital filing or project management tools.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, use initiative and build positive working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
